TOPIC: Prize and presentation evening for 2011 season

Prize and presentation evening for 2011 season 9 years 11 months ago #35

Boys and Girls I mentioned in the January News letter about the format for next years presentation evening. So far I have had "Jack zip" in the way of suggestions for next year.

Does anyone have a prefered format? Now's the time for the debate. I am not prepared to be running around last minute trying to recover something that needs sorting and booking very soon.

Replies on a 'post-it' note please?

Andy

I think its time for a change and lets go back to basics, lets book a function room at a pub/club that does some food weather its a bar meal or a buffet and have a few drinks, a presentation and give club members the chance to socialise and chat.

Sounds like a great idea,i dont know what anybody else thinks but Andy got some info at the AGM and Carleton Grange seemed like a pretty good place.

Hey Andy your not holding your breath are you mate?
Funny how some people have an opinion on everything then dont want to be involved in club events?

I agree mate. Depending on club finances may be able to subsidise that to a fiver.

Jesus if that don't bring em in I'll deliver the trophies myself and then chalk the big 6th letter on it!!

Pub and buffet grub sounds like a good idea to me...a bit less formal might be just the trick. At a tenner who could complain!

Greetings.
Not to put out anyone's bonfire but the reason for moving from the Kings Cross was due to lack of members attending and the room being too big for the event. I agree change is necessary but the Carleton, although a change in style, is still too big to host the event. A smaller venue would contribute to a more intimate night. I also feel a newsletter to every member or a committee meeting be called as only a few members are privy to this electronic age and don't have computers.

Happy Valentines Day

Kings Cross was a bit too far for most!!

Suggestions Please. Remember it has too be private enough for the presentation......
and somewhere we can easily get the trophies without too many probs.

Dont forget the price of the function was too great for some?

I think writing another letter is out of the question. 90 envelopes three times a year is enough ta!

What about Castleford Civic Centres Legioleum Room, smaller venue than the kings croft but with the same facilities, we would have to organise a outside caterer for the food but may be worth a consideration ?

The Rock Inn in Glasshoughton has an upstairs function room, as does the New Airedale and seeing as Daz Nelthorpe is posting what about the Byram Social club?

You can undercook a mushroom but not overcook it.

Are you out there Daz Nelthorpe? More to the point are you still in the club?

Keep them in the dark and then shovel crap on them.

The club's still here although Jan next year could be a bit far to forecast. The concert room holds about 120 comfortably but any less than 50 and it looks empty. Call in and have a look by all means. No room hire fee just a £20 returnable deposit (returnable on the night) in case of no shows. Unfortunately, it would be outside catering as my culinary skills, toaster and bean pan, don't make edible meals!!!
